At a glance

Consent-first

Non-essential cookies only fire after you click Accept — never pre-ticked, never on page load.

Four categories

Strictly necessary, preferences, analytics, marketing — you choose granularly.

Easy to change

Reopen the preference centre any time from the footer — withdrawal is as easy as consent.

Minimal by default

We currently run no marketing or ad cookies. Analytics is opt-in and privacy-friendly.

Section 01

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to remember things between visits — like whether you're signed in or what language you prefer. In this policy, "cookies" also covers other client-side storage we use: localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB. The consent rules under EU ePrivacy law and Romanian Law 506/2004 apply equally to all of these.

We only set non-essential cookies after you give consent through our banner. You can withdraw consent any time — it's as easy as giving it.

Section 02

Our four categories

We split cookies into four clear categories so you can choose granularly. Each category can be toggled on or off in the preference centre (except strictly necessary, which can't be disabled without breaking the service).

Essential

Keep you signed in, remember your cart at checkout, prevent fraud. Required for the service to work — no consent asked, because you can't meaningfully consent to something you need to use the site.

Preferences

Remember non-essential choices like language and theme. Not strictly needed for the service but they make it nicer.

Analytics

Help us understand which features get used and where we can improve. Aggregated and pseudonymous.

Marketing

Not currently used. If we ever add any, we'll ask for separate, granular consent — no surprise activation.

Section 03

What we use cookies for

The purposes we currently set cookies for:

PurposeCategory
Keeping you signed in across page loadsEssential
Remembering your language and theme preferencesPreferences
Fraud prevention and secure checkoutEssential

We do not currently deploy analytics or marketing cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated and the banner will re-ask for consent before any new non-essential cookie is set. The exact cookie names your browser holds are visible in your browser's developer tools at any time.

Section 04

Other browser storage

We also use a small amount of client-side storage that sits outside the traditional cookie model:

  • localStorage— quiz-creation wizard drafts (so you don't lose progress if you navigate away) and minor UI state.
  • sessionStorage — temporary path-finder results and other per-tab state that disappears when you close the tab.
  • IndexedDB — offline cache for quizzes and flashcards in our Progressive Web App, so you can keep studying with spotty connectivity.

None of these are used for cross-site tracking. They're cleared when you delete the site's data in your browser or sign out of your account.

Section 05

Third-party cookies

Our payment processor may set cookies directly in your browser on pages where checkout is loaded, for fraud prevention and secure payment. That processor acts as a separate data processor under our Data Processing Agreement, and you are directed to its own privacy and cookie notice at the point of checkout.

Section 06

Your choices

You can control cookies in three ways:

  1. The preference centre — opened from the cookie banner on first visit, or any time later from the footer link "Cookie preferences". Choose per category, reject non-essential with a single click, and save. The Reject All button has equal prominence to Accept All — per EDPB guidance and Romanian ANSPDCP enforcement practice.
  2. Your browser— all major browsers let you block or delete cookies. Search your browser's help for "manage cookies". Note that blocking strictly-necessary cookies will break authentication.
  3. Account deletion— deletes all server-side data associated with you; client-side storage is cleared when you sign out or clear the site's data in your browser.
Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an objection to non-essential cookies and will not activate analytics for that session.

Section 07

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new cookies, change providers, or respond to new guidance from ANSPDCP or the EDPB. If we add new non-essential cookies, the banner will resurface and ask for fresh consent before they're set.
